For those entering the Las Vegas Strip from the south end, the Klondike Casino on the east end is a familiar sight. At least until the casino closed in June 2006. The Klondike was previously a Motel 6 and was converted into the Klondike in 1978 with a casino, restaurant, bar, lounge, and hotel. According to the Las Vegas Sun, the property first opened in 1962 and will be demolished to make room for a much larger hotel and casino. 07-07 UPDATE 07/08 :
