The Value Motel sign certainly lived up to its name. Glowing brightly beside Highway 99, it was the kind of sign that let tired travelers know a room was just ahead. The big neon lettering made it hard to miss, especially after dark. 01-09

Motels like this were once a familiar sight along the highway, each hoping to catch one more driver before the next exit. Whether you stayed or not, the sign was reason enough to slow down for a look.

UPDATE: The motel has since closed, and the familiar roadside sign has been altered as part of the property's new use. 07-26
