Hollywood Motel

And you have to like the Hollywood name. It's a little bit of California glamour planted along a busy Delaware highway, complete with a roadside marquee to match. No word on whether any movie stars ever spent the night here, but the name probably sounded pretty inviting after a long day behind the wheel.
Just up the road is historic New Castle, founded way back in 1651. That makes for an interesting contrast: centuries-old buildings and streets nearby, followed by a quick drive down Route 13 to a 1950s motel with neon glowing out front. That's quite a few years of roadside history packed into a short stretch of Delaware.
UPDATE: The Hollywood Motel remains open along Route 13, and both of its vintage roadside signs are still standing. Nice to see this old motor court still hanging around. 08-26
