This desert themed name for the Sahara Motel makes one think of the other desert oasis... Las Vegas!
Here's the neon script lettering for the Crescent Motel in Buena Park, CA. The marquee on this motel wasn't much, but this script lettering really caught the eye of travelers passing through near Knott's Berry Farm.
Off Beach Boulevard is a classic roadside motel... the Tahiti Motel. This marquee still stands despite redevelopments all around.
The Anchor Motel features an anchor image as it lights up the boulevard.
Near to Knotts Berry Farm, the Covered Wagon Motel features... yes... a covered wagon theme on its neon marquee.
The Oasis Motel is quite a sight, especially as sunset approaches. Near Knott's Berry Farm, the Oasis is a relic from a nearly forgotten time, when the marquee outside made a difference as to where you stayed for the night. UPDATE 11/04 : The Oasis Motel was bulldozed sometime over the last several months and an empty lots now resides in its place. Another Orange County treasure has disappeared off the map. 11-04
One of the best neon signs around Orange County, the Silver Moon Motel still lights up the sky alongside Beach Boulevard at night. UPDATE : The Silver Moon is no more after being torn down.
The Robin Hood motel features a good sized Robin Hood on its marquee. Sitting alongside Beach Blvd., the Robin Hood is a real eye-catcher. Riviera Motel The Riviera Motel has a nice looking neon sign that also catches the attention of passersby along busy Beach Blvd.
Not sure if this sign for Don's Turf Motel is still around.
Here's a shot of the Samoa Motel off Katella in Anaheim. There used to be a tiki out front, but it has since been removed. UPDATE 07/08 :
