The rounded corners, horizontal lines and pink exterior of Day Nite Cleaners give Tulsa’s Route 66 some Streamline Art Deco character. I originally called it “pseudo deco,” but this building deserves a little more credit.

The dry-cleaning business is gone, though Day & Nite Rugs has given the distinctive building another useful role. The classic neon adds to the attraction. 08-11

UPDATE: Day & Nite Rugs continues occupying the preserved building. Its restored neon received support through Tulsa’s Route 66 Neon Sign Grant Program, giving travelers another reason to look over after dark. 06-26
