Greyhound Bus Terminal (Gone)

Check out the old Greyhound Bus Terminal along Indio Boulevard. The streamlined depot was interesting enough, but the real attention-getter was the marquee with a running greyhound perched right on top. Nothing like a giant dog racing above the entrance to let travelers know they had found the bus station.

The terminal stood along old Highway 99, back when buses and automobiles rolled straight through the middle of Indio. It also operated with the Greyhound Interstate Restaurant, giving passengers a place to grab a meal before climbing aboard and continuing across the desert.

UPDATE: The original terminal, restaurant, and running-greyhound marquee have all been removed. Greyhound buses still use the address, but passengers now board at an outdoor stop without the old terminal building or its speedy rooftop mascot. 09-26
