Off of McKee Road in San Jose was an old mid-century bowling alley called McKee Bowl. The marquee out front was tall and narrow and features colors, shapes, and lettering well representative of the era it came from. Unfortunately, the McKee Bowl was torn down several years ago. A Walgreens now occupies the site. 04-08

Alma Bowl (Demolished)

Looking to bowl a few games while passing through San Jose? Well, if this was several years ago, you could have. The Alma Bowl featured a marquee that could be seen for blocks, with the huge letters and the solitary pin on top. The Alma Bowl was demolished in the last couple of years, purportedly to make way for a high-rise condominium project. 04-08
UPDATE 09/10 : Construction is already underway on a two level complex at the site of the former Alma Bowl. The sign and alley are gone. 09-10

The Country Club Bowl is located at 88 Vivian Way in San Rafael. This ten pin alley is family owned since 1959, and is a very nice bowling center featuring 40 lanes and the Candlestick Room Lounge. For more information, see the Country Club Bowl website at www.bowlmarin.com. 09-08
