Here's a relatively old sign advertising Buford Drugs of Terrell, TX.
The Western Drug still features great colors, though the neon appears to have been removed from the sign some time ago.
The Deason Pharmacy in Tyler, TX is still in business. The building has been remodeled and rebuilt but the sign is original. Not sure if the marquee still lights, but from the condition, it possibly does.
This Walgreen Drugs in downtown San Antonio, TX has been a local institution since 1936. The building it has occupied has been around since the 1800's. Despite being designated a local landmark by the San Antonio City Council in 1987, the city's Historic and Landmark Review Commission voted on 12/06/06 to grant building owner Federal Realty Investment Trust's request to demolish the building and the adjoining Stuarts building. Walgreen's had previously threatened to leave this site if a new building wasn't built as a replacement. It will be a shame to see both the Walgreen and Stuarts buildings disappear. What's next, the historic Kress store across the street? 01-07
Here's an old roadside sign at the Star Drug Store in Galveston, TX. This look of this sign is a reminder back to the days when many drug stores had eatery areas and soda fountains inside. 02-07
Here's a surviving old Rexall drugs sign outside of Tindalls Drugs in Shamrock, TX. 03-07
