Familiar with Threadgill's in Austin? How about Doc's Motorworks Bar and Grill on South Congress Ave.? Well, Todd Sanders is also familiar with those locations. In fact, much of the signage from Threadgill's as well as the Doc's marquee are just examples of Todd's work designing and creating roadside signs in Austin. Legend is Todd arrived in Austin in pursuit of the giant Terminex bug after which he set up his art and signage shop called Roadhouse Relics and the rest, as you can say, is history.
Roadhouse Relics has also done work supporting movies from major motion picture studios.

Todd himself describes his work as "It is a blend of SIDESHOW, Hot Rod Culture, and the allure of a neon's glow. And like me, it is a true original."
In fact, "Todd Sanders is a self-proclaimed urban archaeologist. In fact, he is an artist and designer whose specialty is 20th-century popular culture. He spent the first half of his life living in the 20th century. He plans to devote the rest of it celebrating the true essence of 20th-century American popular culture." More info can be found on the Roadhouse Relics website.

During a visit to Austin, it was heart warming to see that neon is alive and well, thanks to artists such as Todd who carry their passion to their craft. Road trips would not be the same without their work.
