Here's an old marquee sitting outside the Villa del Mar Motel in Seattle. Not sure if the vacancies still exists.
The Ben Carol Motel near the Sea Tac airport still features a retro throwback marquee out front.
Here's a shot of the La Hacienda Motel and its classic looking motor court architecture. This shot look like a classic postcard type of shot from the 60's.
This nice roadside sign for the New West Motel directs you to rooms with cable TV. Not sure what the accommodations are like inside, though. Seal's Motel (Removed) Here's a shot of a motel marquee with real character... a seal character that is. The Seal's Motel sports a working neon seal as part of its signage. What more could you ask for... UPDATE 07/07 : The Seal's Motel neon sign was removed and replaced by backlit plastic. Many thanks to Mike Fuller for update. 07-07
Located somewhat near the border, the Almost Heaven Motel also features a roadside cafe on its grounds.
Fancy the mid-century colors on this sign! Grab some guacamole and head on over to the Klose-in Motel in Seattle. Not sure if the clock still works, but heck it is a great sign!
UPDATE 01/09 : Here's an updated shot from Fall 2008 of the Klose-in Motel sign sporting a freshened up paint scheme. Many thanks to Matthias Tippner for update. 01-09
What's the best thing to do on a full stomach? A nap of course. If you're in Yakima, WA, spend the night at the Shady Lane Motel. Can't vouch for the lodging, but the marquee ain't bad.
The El Dorado Motel in Seattle, WA features a vintage marquee sign with a giant neon swooping arrow... standard in its time.
