The Family Inn offers sixteen rooms. For years it was known as the Imperial Motel. Red neon lights up around the crown at night. This is the place to be if you want to sleep like a king. (sic!)
Across the street from the Family Inn are two beauties - the Allamanda (see below), which you will notice has some Florida wildlife that wanted to be in the picture, and the Sunset Terrace. Along with the retro sign, the Sunset seems to have much of its original lawn furniture out front.
Ah, Sarasota, Florida. Home of much roadside quirkiness, including the Allamanda Motel. Keep this motel in mind if you're ever passing through the area. Not sure what the rooms look like, but the marquee is nice. The Allamanda still sports its fine marquee, although the colors have changed a bit over the years. The photos of the sign in its orange and blue colors is the current look of the sign.
Reeds Motel of Avon Park, Florida flaunts a real roadside diver jumping off the marquee. Great imagery and advertisement of the pool.
Reed's Motel
The Siesta Motel doesn't disappoint the traveler looking for a good roadside sign to marvel at. It's always interesting to see divers jumping either out of or into marquees.
Another great part of Florida to find roadside signage is Sebring. From the Winter-Set Motel to Clayton's Motor Inn, signage here brings back memories of the golden age of disco. Not sure if this is a good thing, but then again, nothing's ever perfect.
UPDATE 03/05 : The Sunset Motel is located along US 92 west of town. Many thanks to Robert Droz for update. 03-05
