The Capri Motel brings up mental images of wizardry and fortune telling. A unique sign located in Florida.

Sunset Terrace Motel
Sarasota, FL
Photo and info courtesy Steve/Back on Tack

Across the street from the Family Inn are two beauties - the Allamanda (see below), which you will notice has some Florida wildlife that wanted to be in the picture, and the Sunset Terrace Motel. Along with the retro sign, the Sunset seems to have much of its original lawn furniture out front.

The Arvilla Motel has a great design jog in it that also serves as its name plate. There are a great number of motels on this strip.

Reeds Motel

Reeds Motel of Avon Park, Florida flaunts a real roadside diver jumping off the marquee. Great imagery and advertisement of the pool.

UPDATE 08/06 : : Reeds Motel is under new ownership and has been remodeled. It's one of the oldest motels in Avon Park, and can't be missed. It sits right on Hwy 27 and is known for it's big neon diver. The sign was destroyed during the 2004 hurricane season which hit our county, but the sign was brought back in its original form! The sign is back and is the same colors, same position and everything. A new gentleman bought the motel and has redone the entire thing, still basically the same set up but everything is new. Many thanks to Katrina Carroll for update. 08-06

UPDATE 02/09 : (Left) Here's a photo of the Reed's Motel sign. This motel looks like a gem of a mom and pop type of motel. This is the restored sign after it received the storm damage described above during the 2004 hurricane season. Many thanks to Alan Culley for update. 02-09

Siesta Motel

The Siesta Motel doesn't disappoint the traveler looking for a good roadside sign to marvel at. It's always interesting to see divers jumping either out of or into marquees.

Winter-Set Motel
Sebring, FL

Another great part of Florida to find roadside signage is Sebring. From the Winter-Set Motel to Clayton's Motor Inn, signage here brings back memories of the golden age of disco. Not sure if this is a good thing, but then again, nothing's ever perfect.
