Eastland Bowl (Demolished)
Covina, CA Photo by RoadsidePeek.com
The Eastland Bowling center in Covina looks to be a good
place to bowl a few games and it's conveniently located right off the
freeway too. At least until a bulldozer happened to pass by and demolished
the place a couple of years ago.

Here's the bowling pin sign for the Shatto 39 Bowl in
Los Angeles. Once upon a time, huge bowling pins advertising the neighborhood
ten pin alley was very common in most towns. Nowadays, it's starting to
become a rarity. It doesn't appear that this bowling pin lights up anymore.
Even the neon inside of this bowling arena still lights up, as evidenced
by the Shatto Tap Room signage inside.
UPDATE 11/08 : Here are more photos of the Shatto 39 Lanes, still thriving after all of these years. Many thanks to Sal Garcia for update. 11-08

Check out this vertical marquee for the Palos Verdes Bowl,
still upright after many years. However, rumors are that the City of Torrance
would like to remove this marquee.
(Near left) The bowling pin theme can be seen
in the interior of this bowling alley. Check out this painted "bowling
pin lady" found along the wall.
