Check out the neon for the Dunes Hotel and the Oasis palm tree
sign. It was a shame to see this roadside and Vegas classic go. The Dunes was open from 1955 to 1993 and was home to such entertainers as Frank Sinatra, Robert Goulet, and others. Replacing the Dunes after it was imploded in 1993 is the Bellagio. 11-05

The Sands Hotel is one of the Vegas legends. Home to the Rat Pack for many years, the Sands was the place to see and be seen.
The Sands was open from 1952 and closed in 1996. The Venetian now sits where the Sands once stood. 11-05

The Silverbird Casino off the Strip opened in 1948 under its former name, the Thunderbird. The name changed to the Silverbird in 1976 and operated for 5 years under that name. In 1982, the casino opened as the El Rancho. The El Rancho was eventually imploded on October 3, 2000. 11-05
