Vista Del Sol Motel (Demolished)
Tucson, AZ

Here's the neon lit sign at the Vista Del Sol Motel from back in 1999. The motel used to advertise its vacancy along with color TV, pool, and phone. Wel, like many of the old roadside motels in the country, the Vista Del Sol Motel was demolished and is now just a memory. The site of the motel is now home to storage units. 06-23

The Western Motel is and was located along the Old Benson Highway which was one of the main routes through Tucson. The Western Motel sign was pretty weather beaten back in the 1990s, however it still featured signage for kitchenettes and pools which used to be in high demand back in the day. Well, 25 years later the sign is still there though even more faded and beaten down. 06-23

Check out this classic Arizona sign of the La Siesta Motel. The motel was built in the early 1940's.

After having been restored in 2008 as a part of the city's Oracle Area Revitalization Plan, the La Siesta Motel closed down and filed bankruptcy in July 2010. 06-23

No-Tel Motel
Tucson, ,AZ

The No-Tel Motel has become a Tucson landmark of sorts. The motel was first built as the De Anza Motel in a Spanish revival-style along the Miracle Mile. Its cool name depicts perhaps a more sordid past. Apparently the owners changed the name to the No-Tel after the area starting changing once the I-10 bypassed the Miracle Mile. The No-Tel is still in business in 2020 but no tell. 11-20

UPDATE : The No-Tel Motel was purchased in the fall of 2022 by the city with the intent to turn the historic motel into a homeless shelter and affordable housing for older adults. 06-23

Se-Tay Motel
Casa Grande, AZ

Check out this bright lit neon sign for the Se-Tay Motel in Casa Grande. Turns out the motel was built in 1949 by the original owner named Yates. Read Yates backwards and see what that spells.

UPDATE 11/20 : The sign has been painted over completely as seen in Fall 2020. It was a shame to see this vintage sign gone, especially after the City of Casa Grande has been making efforts on a neon sign park recently.

UPDATE : The sign was painted blue with palm trees and an American flag and is stillon site. 06-23
