Visalia, CA

Visalia is a town just east of the 99 in the Central California area. Check out the Marco Polo Motel, which is one of the first signs you'll encounter as you get into the city off the highway.

UPDATE 12/08 : The Marco Polo Motel marquee has been removed and replaced by a plain sign that just says "Marco Polo Inn". 12-08

The Sage Motel's marquee sign is relatively unremarkable, but it's great that it's not some old backlit plastic sign like so many others.

Here's an old motor hotel complex, complete with dining room area. The Royale Palms Motor Hotel still serves up to visitors in Bakersfield.

Hal Mar Inn
Delano, CA

The Hal Mar Inn still appears to be serving guests, though the motel rooms themselves also have that abandoned look about them. In either, the fancy marquee out front still sits by the roadside.

Gables Motel
Fresno, CA

The Gables Motel in Fresno along motel row still features a couple of fine marquees.

The sign on the near right shows a couple of arrows pointing in different directions.

To the far right, the sign advertises the motel itself.

This marquee for the Selma Motel is located in, uh, yes Selma.
