The Hi-Way Host Motel still lights up the sky with its lodging specials along what may have been old Route 66. The motel marquee is in as good a shape as its ever been.
Hermosa Beach was home to the 1940 Mar Vista Motel on Pacific Coast Highway for six decades. This roadside motel was torn down in 1999 to make way for a lumberyard expansion. The photo on the left was taken in 1991. Another roadside motor court from the mid-century disappears off into a memory. 10-05 The Saga Motel, (below) also in Pasadena, lights up the sky with its neon sign.
Here's a shot of the Saharan Motel's marquee all lit up for another Hollywood night.
Here is a photo of the Skylark Motel located in Riverside, CA. Notice the 60's neon and the 70's backlit plastic sign that says "Jacuzzi", that appears to have been added later.
The neon lettering still lights up the roadside at Don's Motel in Long Beach. This roadside motel is found along the Pacific Coast Highway. 10-05
The Cactus Motel in Barstow, CA still features a neon lit motel sign. Unfortunately, similar to many other old towns, Barstow has seen may of its old roadside signs disappear in recent years. This motel is located off of Route 66.
Hollywood Premiere Motel (Near right) The El Rio Motel in Glendale features neon that still lights up the roadside. 03-06 ( Far right) The Hollywood Premiere Motel marquee looks like its ready for a grand premiere when seen at night. Check out the fancy neon on this sign. 03-06
