Route 66This gas station with the overhand canopy is or was located along Route 66 in Amarillo, TX. 08-21 Route 66Robinson's 66 Gas Station is an old Texaco station located on the main old road in Vega, TX. This Route 66 landmark has since deteriorated over time but is structurally intact. The Texaco was photographed by famed photographer Ed Ruscha years ago. 08-21

Route 66This old historic gas station and 1968 Pontiac Catalina is one of the most photographed icons along the road. Built by Joseph Brownlee in 1960 who also built the Brownlee Diner next door the old gas station and Pontiac seems to be frozen in time.

Word is one of the owners Larry Lee Travis owned the Pontiac and after he was killed in a robbery in nearby Adrian, the Pontiac was brought back to this property in 1976 where it has been resting ever since. The story could be found in this rather interesting article at Never Quite Lost.

More photos to come soon. 08-21
