Located an hour east of Kansas City and an hour west of Columbia is the historic SChreiman Orchards roadside market, now celebrating its 75th anniversary.

Hippie Memorial

Here's the Hippie Memorial, located in Arcola, IL. Not sure of the hippie significance of the site here, but it's a memorial nonetheless. 06-07

Bledsoe's Beach

Here is a place that is about to be demolished for lakeside development, although the 9timetable is not known for the project. Bledsoe's Beach came about in the 1940s, or maybe a little earlier, and was a big teen hangout in the '50s & '60s with its dance hall. Changing times brought on its eventual demise.

Here are photos of the old dance hall, the roadside sign and the lakeside sign. Bledsoe's was located on the western shore of Lake James, a few miles north of Angola, IN. 07-07

Water Tower
Ashley, IN

Ashley is one of the places you can see a water tower painted like a 70's smiley face. This town is quite proud of this as evident by the welcome sign greeting you as you near downtown. This is the only smiley face tower I have seen that wears a bow tie. 02-08
