Roadside Statues Rocky Mountains

Indian
Moab, UT

Here's a roadside Indian outside an old trading post just outside of Moab. At first it looked to be an old wooden Indian, but on closer look you can see it's actually fiberglass or resin. What is attention catching here is how convincing the figure looks from a distance. It has the look of an old wooden roadside figure, but the material tells a different story once you get closer.

This is one of those roadside pieces that makes you stop and take a second look. Whether it was meant to draw visitors into a trading post, gift shop, or roadside attraction, it definitely did its job. 10-06

UPDATE: The exact location and current status of this roadside figure could not be verified. Some research points to a similar figure near Moqui Cave in Kanab, Utah, but that does not appear to match the original Moab location. Until confirmed, the fate of this figure remains unknown. 06-26
