Well, like many good things, the Cal Oaks era has come to a close as the business was closed down in early 2005.
(Far right) Here's an interesting two-pronged sign for the Zip Liquor. The lettering on "Zip" smells of the vintage mid-century variety. Not sure if the Zip Liquor survived the big Orange County roadside sign purge of recent years. Frank's Liquor (Right) Frank's Liquor in Montebello is more along the lines of the neighborhood liquor store.
Three boomerang arrows grace the marquee for this vintage liquor store.
This vintage sign for Silver Dollar Liquor was found out in Boron CA. Check out the faded lettering on this worn sign, baking and losing its color in the high summer heat.
Here's the cool marquee for Al's Liquor. Unfortunately, this immense sign was taken down sometime in early 2000. It's now sitting in the LA County Museum of Neon Art.
Here's an old marquee. The Fox Liquor and deli sign was found somewhere in the L.A. area.
Fancy this nice marquee to the Canyon City Liquor store, off Route 66. Many of the old signs along the Mother Road has disappeared around this area lately, but the Canyon City sign still endures.
Check out Lev's Liquor in Pico Rivera, CA. Funny how many old signs carry the baby blue / reddish blend of colors.
The Continental Liquor store in the SF Valley is nearby the Matador Bowling alley. This liquor store is representative of the neighborhood store.
