Uncle Julio's restaurant advertises
its "fine Mexican food." The beaming face atop this marquee
supports this statement. Uncle Julio's started in Dallas in 1986. Uncle Julio's was owned by Julio & Sons Co. until it was purchased in 2011 by Connecticut private equity firm J.H. Whitney Capital Partners.
Matt's Famous El Rancho

Also in Austin is Matt's Famous El Rancho, which humbly
advertises as having the best Mexican food in the world and the King of
Mexican Food. Matt & Jane opened El Rancho in 1952 as a mom and pop shop. Today Matt's El Rancho is an Austin institution. Matt's Famous El Rancho has served celebrities including President Lyndon B. Johnson. Matt's was designated as a Texas Treasure Business in 2017.

El Chico advertises its fine
foods. The man on the sign has an interesting smile. The owners started by selling homemade tamales.
In 1940, the Dallas location was opened up as the El Chico, and it quickly became a Dallas tradition. It wasn't long before the brothers built restaurants throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area and eventually, the entire state.

Carrilla Tacos is home to the
$1 tacos in Dallas. The neon sign is somewhat standout in that it lights
up the avenue.
Manuel's
Tortilla Factory

This parking lot sign for Manuel's Tortilla Factory looks
like it's going to walk off down the boulevard. Manuel's opened in 1946 as a factory making tortillas and tamales. Manuel's was instrumental towards introducing Mexican food to the Texas town of Odessa.
El Patio

The El Patio Mexican Food restaurant
in Austin features a big sombrero on its marquee. So if you're looking
to check out a Mexican food eatery, just follow the sombrero. The El Patio has been around since 1954. See this website for more.
The restaurant announced that they would be closing after 65 years so that the owner could retire. After one month, the restaurant reopened again at the same location and menu.
Casa Rio

Casa Rio restaurant is located in downtown San Antonio on the Riverwalk. Casa Rio has been in business since 1946 and is one of the favorite eating places on the Riverwalk. Casa Rio was the first business in San Antonio to open up to the river and take advantage of the picturesque setting.
