Tutwiler Hotel

Here's a look at the old Tutwiler Hotel in Birmingham, AL. The hotel is now a Hampton Inn and is on the Historic Hotels Of America list.

The Tutwiler opened in 1914 setting out to be the best hotel in Birmingham. In 1974, the Tutwiler was imploded as modern skyscrapers began surrounding it and the Financial Center was built in its place. This current hotel is the original Ridgeley Apartment building that was transformed into the Tutwiler Hotel in the 1980's. Chattanooga Choo Choo

Here's the rooftop sign in the image of a choo choo train. This neon sign catches the eye of travelers entering this area of Chattanooga as the sign also lights up at night.

The Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel was built in 1908 and also served as a Terminal Station in the downtown area during its over 100 years of history. The train station closed in 1970 and the place became a hotel in 1973. The hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. For more information, see this website. 11-10
