The Tutwiler opened in 1914 setting out to be the best hotel in Birmingham. In 1974, the Tutwiler was imploded as modern skyscrapers began surrounding it and the Financial Center was built in its place. This current hotel is the original Ridgeley Apartment building that was transformed into the Tutwiler Hotel in the 1980's. A restoration took place in 2007 transforming the hotel into the what you see today. For more information, see the Tutwiler Hotel website. 04-09
