Here is the Papoose Motel, found off the highway in Cherokee, NC. Unfortunately, the motel was recently demolished and all that is left is this sign. 04-08

Hayes Motel

Here is the Hayes Motel where it appears to have been before the interstate weekly rates were offered. This sign was almost too far gone to photograph yet had some interesting weathering. It apparently once stood straight but the base had rusted away and the sign fell onto the pole resting at this angle. 05-08

Baldwin Motel (Closed)

Check out this photo of the Baldwin Motel marquee, which is all that is left of this motel on US 1 in Thornburg VA.  The hotel lot is now covered in grass. 08-08

Dixie Motel (Closed)

The Dixie was a hotel, restaurant, and gas station that has been abandoned on US 301 North.  This marquee show the Dixie Motel sign, still catching the eye of passing visitors in Emporia, VA. Signs for the Dixie were seen for years on Interstate 95. 08-08

Old Motel (Closed)

Emporia is home to these old cottages that used to serve as a nice rest stop for many a weary traveler back in its day. From the looks of the faded out marquee and dried out lot, the motel has been closed for some time now. 08-08

Here's an old sign for the Georgian Motor Court. This roadside gem located in Cordele, GA shows off its classic colors and neon lettering. 11-08

Candlelight Motel
Ozark, AL

The Candlelight Motel in Ozark, AL features a fine roadside sign. The marquee shows of a lit up candle, fitting tot he motel's name. Not sure if the sign is of the neon variety though. 01-09

Pine Lake Motel
Pike Road, AL

This marquee is located outside of the Pine Lake Motel. The motel features the colors and shapes of the mid-century era. Check out the way the arrow boomerangs over and the motel letters are in almost a kidney shape. 01-09

Lee Motel (Closed)

The Lee Motel located in Pell City, AL still has an old faded out sign with some character. The sign looks like all of the neon has been stripped away for some time. The Lee Motel was abandoned when this photo was taken. 01-09
