Here's a neon shot of the famous Roxy in Hollywood. This is one of the music clubs that has featured great talent through the years.

The legendary Roxy originally opened in 1973 by Lou Adler and Elmer Valentine with the dream of promoting artists of all musical genres. In 1974, the Rocky Horror Picture Show opened for the first time, here at the Roxy. here's to another 40 years of success along Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood.

Here's Gil Turner's Liquor Store located on the west end of the Sunset strip. This store can be well seen of the boulevard with its neon lettering.

This Yahoo sign/billboard features a huge neon glow off the boulevard. The neon billboard is proving to be a real eye-catcher and sometimes hair-raising sight, especially as you drive along the freeway late at night.

 

 

 

 

Whisky a Go Go

Near the Roxy is another famous hot spot, the Whisky a Go Go. Word is, go go dancing was born at this place. The Whisky has been around since the mid-1960's and featured such famous acts as the Doors and Led Zeppelin.

AutoZone

Googie lettering, huge marquees, and boomerangs in place of arrows were also signs of the mid-century era. Here is an example of supermarket lettering. The AutoZone in Calexico features an eye catching neon arrow.
