Fielos Restaurant (Removed)

When somebody asks me what my favorite neon sign is, I say Fielos Restaurant on Western Avenue in Chicago. This double sided sign was over 25 feet tall. Notice the maintenance ladder under the letter F, also ladder rungs can be seen on the left side of the word "Restaurant". Fielos had undergone many owners over the years and in 2005 the sign was taken down. The business now operates under a new name. 06-07

Rosie's Little Italy (Removed)

Here is one more from Marion, IN that is no longer standing. This sign for Rosie's Little Italy was in perfect working order and all the owner had to do was move it a few feet when the highway was widened. Now all there is, is a cheap fluorescent sign. 07-07

Plaza 30 Truck Stop

The Plaza 30 Truck Stop sign has had all the neon tubes removed and has been painted over. 07-07

Sign of the Beefcarver

The Sign of the Beefcarver used to be the Beefeater, but I think the company lost a law suite from the Gin maker who must have thought "go out and get me a bottle of Beefeater" would be confused with "Go out and have a roast beef dinner". Either way the sign is nearly identical as when it was the Beefeater. 07-07

Reno Corsi Restaurant

The Reno Corsi Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge stood abandoned for many years. In 2005, the neon sign was removed. A Sports Bar is the building's latest tenant. 07-07

Tiebels Restaurant (Removed)

The giant neon "T" for Tiebel's Restaurant has been gone for over 10 + years. It was destroyed when it was struck by lightning one evening and was toppled over in the parking lot. The restaurant lost power and had to send all the customers and employees home early that night. The sign was replaced with a backlit plastic sign. Business is thriving in its 77th year. 07-07

The Green Lantern Restaurant is located on the east edge of Effingham on U.S. 40. It has recently burned to the ground, but there is a sign that says they will rebuild. The neon sign is intact. 11-07
