Elco Tap (Closed)
Fort Wayne, IN

Elco Tap was closed & for sale as of April 2008. A large factory across the street looks to have closed up, leaving no workers to fill the stools. 12-08


Coney Island Wiener Stand

Here's the famous Coney Island Wiener Stand in Fort Wayne, IN showing off its neon sign. Coney Island has some good food and should see an increase in their evening business once the downtown ball park opens up for the Fort Wayne Wizards.

According to the sign, the Coney Island Wiener Stand has been around since 1914. 12-08

 


Syd's Bar

Noblesville, IN home to this roadside bar lighting up the street with its neon signs. Syd's Bar also has an unforgettable name (especially when it's your own). This bar is found in downtown square Noblesville. The photos are fresh from 12/13/08. 12-08

Lock View Restaurant
Sault Ste Marie, MI

The Lockview Restaurant is located in Sault Ste Marie, MI. Although next door to the Lockview Motel, is not owned by the same people. It did not take much investigation to figure out where the neon from the sign went since the neon in the window is the same script as what's on the sign. The Lockview serves fresh Lake Superior whitefish (served 5 different ways) and lake perch. Friday nights have several whitefish specials. 12-08


Barringer's Tavern
Indianapolis, IN

Indianapolis, IN is home to this eye-catching neon street sign outside of this roadside business. Barringer's Tavern is a neighborhood tavern on S. Meridian St. 01-09


The Wheel Restaurant
Hammond, IN

Hammond, IN is home to the former Big wheel Restaurant, now called The Wheel. This is a classic late 1950's place, updated and with neon. They were once a chain. The last classic sign was in Valparaiso. 01-09

Emil's Steer Inn (Demolished)
Columbus, OH

Check out the exterior at night of Emil's Steer Inn. This old restaurant located in Columbus, OH is gone and replaced with a Church's Fried Chicken. Here's a look at what Emil's Steer Inn looked like inside.

The postcard read "Nationally Known Drive In, Sandwich Shop and Restaurant. The Nation's newest and most ultra-modern eating place. Dedicated to the serving of delicious food, fine pastries, and rich French ice cream. A popular slogan here is: "Steer out to Emil's Steer Inn" 4484 East Main Street, U.
